[livejournal.com profile] cairistiona7 gave me Luigi Russolo, an Italian Futurist painter (and composer).

Two of his paintings that stood out for me:

Dynamism of a Train (1912) for its umm... dynamism; the sense of movement and strength shown in the image.

Solidity of fog (1912) for the colours, and conveying the isolation of the characters in the group. Not at all a warm image, but evocative even so.

Anyone who wants one will be given an artist.

Every answer must start with the last letter of your previous answer. See if you can do it without using Google. It's basically a game of Scattergories.

Name - Nathalie
Animal - elephant
Boys name - Tom
Colour - magenta
Movie - A beautiful mind
Something you wear - dress
Drink - sambuca
Food - apple
Something in the bathroom - eyeliner
Place - Rotterdam
Reason to be late - massive roadworks

Copy & paste to your own journal, then make your changes. (I'm sure you figured that - but it was part of the bit I copied and pasted!)

All except the Heap can be found at AO3 and MPTT, and yeah, four multi-chapter stories at the same time is a bit much. So I'm pushing on with Becoming and Excess for now, and hopefully get at least one of them off my plate...

"Writing under a male name makes you eight times more likely to get published, one female author finds."

So, to further your writing career: discover your 'male author name'.

All you have to do is take the surname of the writers of the last two things you read and combine them...

I'm Mortimer Adams

If you could invite any 3 fictional characters to your Thanksgiving dinner, which ones would you choose?

I don't have a Thanksgiving dinner, and I ended up with three tables (which is probably cheating), seated as follows:

- Halbarad, Finrod, Glorfindel
- Marc Remillard (Julian May's Pliocene series), Corwin of Amber (Roger Zelazny's Amber series), Fëanor
- Galadriel, Jameth (P.C. Hodgell's Kencyrath series), Arya Stark (GRR Martin, A Song of Ice and Fire)

If I have to trim it down to one table: Halbarad, Jameth, Corwin

(and yes, it's a Hobbit icon, but it's the only dinner party in the icon set)

Go to your iPhone, iPod, iWhatsit or whatever it is the cool kids use to store their music. Then pull up the list of songs and set it to shuffle. List the first 10 or 20 or so.

This is of course not true. There are no books in the bathroom, the loo (at least not on a permanent basis *g*) and the hall... Whether any other part of it matches, I'm leaving as an exercise for the reader.

Your Bookshelf is Impressive

You collect books because you can't imagine doing anything else. You've never met anyone who loves books as much as you do.

It's hard for you to resist almost any book. Sure, you prefer good ones, but you've acquired plenty of weird and mediocre and just plain bad books too.

Your favorite book tends to be the one that you just finished reading. And with you, that can change on a weekly (or even daily) basis.

You read for all sorts of reasons - to relax, to learn, to grow, to laugh. You have books for every occasion and craving.

Your book collection is completely out of control and impossible to organize. You have books in every single room of the house.

You're constantly borrowing, lending, buying, selling, and trading books. You love to share the joy of reading with everyone you know.
